Ignacy Jan Paderewski signed matted photo - famed composer, pianist and Polish Prime Minister. Also included in a vintage photo of Paderewski's Steinway piano on which he wrote a personal inscription
Paderewski signed this photo on April 27, 1905 after his last ever concert in Canada. He then travelled to Buffalo via Niagara Falls to continue his concert tour
Photo was originally issued as a promotional photo in 1900 by Nordheimers' Limited - the sole Canadian Agents for Steinway Piano
Photo was taken in 1900 in Los Angeles
The back of the photo contains a quote written for the promotion by Paderewski, regarding how he liked the piano they provided him with more and more as his concert tour progressed
Autograph is signed in black pen - very clean, clear and presentable - with the inscription "To Mr. J. J. Callaghan with many thanks and best wishes of I J Paderewski," dated 27/IV/1905 in Toronto, Canada
Accompanying photo features a Steinway piano originally presented to Paderewski by William Steinway - the president of Steinway Pianos - and used during his 1892/93 concert tour. At the completion of the tour, Paderewski wrote an inscription on the piano and then returned it to Steinway to display at the Steinway Hall in New York City
The piano pictured is now displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
Paderewski became the third Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland in 1919, adding to an already illustrious resume
Size: signed photo is 5.5" x 4" on a 5.5" x 7.5" matting; accompanying piano photo is 8" x 10"
Signed photo is in great condition; picture is clear and presentable, with light handling wear around the edges of the matting. The back shows a small amount of paper loss along the top edge, not visible from the front. Very presentable and in notably good condition for its age
Accompanying piano photo is also in very good condition with some surface creasing and light scratching, and one small tear on the right side
