Description

1922 TLS Typed Letter Hand-Signed to Van Merle-Smith, by Norman H. Davis about his Horse. The letter concerns a his horse recently shipped to Mr. Merle-Smith, for which the keeper did not pre-pay for the shipping costs. He purpose was to send Mr. Merle-Smith a cheque for .40. So of course we're wondering... Merle-Smith was into yachting, so why a horse? Then we found an recent article that shows that his grandson and great-grand daughter work in the Equestrian field and are competitors. It seems like this equestrian tradition might have started back in 1922 when Merle Smith's children were young. Maybe with this letter. This letter is in excellent condition. It is written on a very fine linen stationary, and shows no flaws. Please see all the photos above to confirm the condition.
